Thanksgiving while the world falls apart

Posted by: Briana on: October 11, 2008

I am spending this Thanksgiving with my family. As much as I am looking forward to it, this year I see an ironic twist in coming together to give thanks while our whole economic system appears to be crashing around us.

On the other hand, I suppose this is exactly when we need to take time out to think of the things we do have to be thankful for. As bad as things seem we are still in a time of plenty compared to times past (and according to the doomsayers, the times to come)!

As anxious as I feel about the economy and what difficulties my family could face if things don’t improve, I am also thankful for the life I have now.

“Looks like transit has improved again”?!

Note to TransLink: you do the culture jammers’ work for them when you position ads that proclaim transit improvements above SkyTrain cars packed so full that people can’t even squeeze on board! You may have spent more money and even added more buses, but you are still a long ways from keeping up with demand.

A new leaf

After a fairly long hiatus I am blogging again. I stopped after a long series of disheartening technical snafus and terrible customer support from my host, Bluehost, that ultimately resulted in three years of blog posts being deleted. At the same time I had just given birth to my son and the last thing I wanted to do was waste my few “free” moments wrestling with technical issues and surly customer service reps.

So it has been a while.

I am now back at work and hoping enough time has passed for me to get over my bitterness at the way the last blog ended!
